Leadership Update: Barry McGinn to Step Down as CEO of Rehab Group

Our Chief Executive, Barry McGinn recently advised the Board of the Rehab Group of his intention to step down from his role as CEO. Barry has successfully led Rehab for more than five years, having joined the organisation in 2017 as Director of Business Development.

In a message to staff outlining his decision to leave, Barry said it had been “an honour and a privilege to work alongside this very dedicated, talented, and hardworking group of people” and expressed his full confidence “that the amazing impact we’ve made will continue to grow and thrive”.

Our Chairperson Aidan Walsh has expressed the sincere thanks of the Rehab Group Board for the very significant contribution Barry has made leading Rehab Group. Barry has successfully developed “our services and businesses and made great progress in delivering on our strategic plan 2021-2026. He leaves the Group in a better place,” said Mr Walsh.

Finbarr Murray has been appointed as Interim CEO and will commence the role on October 24th. Finbarr brings a wealth of experience to this role and has worked as the Group’s Director of Corporate Affairs since 2021.  Finbarr has had a global career spanning 25 years, working in several charities, the airline industry, International NGOs, Government and Asset Banking.  Prior to joining Rehab, he worked as the Managing Director of an NHS Trust in the UK’s Health Service.

His appointment will ensure continuity of service delivery and the continued implementation of Rehab’s mission and strategy, enabling those we support to lead more independent lives and play an active and meaningful role in their communities.

The Board has engaged Odgers an Executive search firm to partner with them in conducting a professional search for a new CEO to ensure the best candidate is selected to lead Rehab Group successfully into the future.  The Board will provide an update once this process is concluded.
