Digital skills education to support health and social inclusion for adults with intellectual disabilities

Rehab Group (RehabCare and National Learning Network) are one of the collaborators on an exciting new European project led by Trinity College Dublin with funding from EIT Health.

Digi-ID is a digital skills education project to support health and social inclusion for adults with intellectual disabilities. The project intends to address the challenge of digital inclusion and low usage of digital technologies amongst people with Intellectual Disability. The goal of Digi-ID is to empower people with intellectual disabilities by providing them with the knowledge, skills and confidence to manage their health and social inclusion needs digitally, ensuring they are not left behind in the digital age.

The Trinity College Dublin project has developed an innovative, digital skills education programme delivered via an accessible solution/app. This was done through a co-creation process with adults with intellectual disabilities including people from National Learning Network and RehabCare.

We are very excited to be part of this unique project. National Learning Network students and RehabCare members are collaborator with the Digi-ID team through co-creation activities such as focus groups, user testing and evaluation activities. The co-creation focus groups brought together a group of people with intellectual disabilities to talk about their experience using technology for their health, wellbeing and social inclusion. The students from National Learning Network and Member of RehabCare tested the prototype and will continues to be user-experience testers (UX testers) in 2022.

Other collaborators in Ireland on this project include Stewarts Care, Daughters of Charity and Brothers of Charity. You can find out more about the project here.
