At NLN in Cavan we provide a range of free courses to people who have had an accident, illness, injury or have a disability and extra support needs.
Our courses are tailored to each student’s needs, to help them to build their confidence while getting practical job-seeking skills to help them get a job or go on to further training.

Fast Track to Work
Our hands-on, FREE job-seeking Fast Track to work course will teach you the skills you need to get a job. Then, we’ll help you find the job you want.
Our ‘Place and Train’ approach, means you’ll train in a company of your choice for three days a week and train in our centre the other two days.

Skills 4 Life
Skills 4 Life This course offers a flexible, strength-based approach to training for young adults (age 16+). The course covers a wide variety of subjects and gives you
the opportunity to learn important skills for life and work, while exploring technologies like music production, photo editing and video making. The course is
designed to teach you valuable life skills, improve your social skills, increase your digital media skills and focus on career exploration in a fun, supportive environment.
Our goal is to help boost your self-confidence and improve your social skills. As with all of courses, students make new friends and have the support of our instructors and support staff every step of the way.

Transform Your Life with the TURAS Programme
The TURAS Programme is designed to support individuals with mental health difficulties who experience high levels of social and community isolation. Our goal is to help you build the confidence and essential personal and social skills needed to enhance your quality of life and make independent, informed choices about your future.
Through the TURAS Programme, you’ll have the chance to explore a wide range of recreational and social opportunities within your community, helping you reconnect and become more actively involved. We also provide guidance and support in exploring community involvement, training options, education, and employment pathways, ensuring you are equipped to move forward with confidence.
In addition, participants will have the opportunity to complete modules from the QQI Level 3 Employability Skills Major Award, giving you a recognised qualification to help boost your career prospects.

Transitions/Connex
The Transitions and Connex programmes in NLN Monaghan are designed for people aged 18 years and over.
The programmes aims to deliver person-centred training, which supports individuals to achieve a better quality of life. The focus is to empower participants to make positive changes in their lives so as to experience greater community inclusion.
The programme defines a range of services that will support participants in developing greater levels of independence, life skills, social skills and basic work skills, with the objective of enhancing the individual’s quality of life and general work capacity.
Information Technology by Blended Learning
This course enables students to get the skills they need to work in an office related environment. The programme is a combination of on-the-job and in-centre training. Our experienced staff support students through the course identifying specific needs and training that the students needs to be able to achieve a Major Award in Information and Communication Technology Skills at Level. Students get to experience on the job experience with a host employer for at least one day a week.

Access
Access is a programme for individuals aged over 18. Students can attend for up to 3 years. The programme is person-centred and supports students in reaching personal, social and/or vocational goals. Access focuses on the individual’s own wishes, strengths and interests, enabling each person to progress at their own pace. Students are supported with personal development and community participation, with help to access and engage in community facilities. Using a person-centred plan, students are supported to progress to the path they choose.
