National Learning Network – Bray
At NLN in Bray we provide a range of free, certified training courses to people who have had an accident, illness, injury or have a disability and extra support needs.
Our courses are tailored to each student’s needs, to help them to build their confidence while getting practical job-seeking skills to help them get a job or go on to further training.
Below are a variety of different courses provided at Bray which can lead to QQI awards from Level 3 up to 5.

Access, QQI Level 3
This course is for young adults with mild learning difficulties who want to take the next step after school. It follows the HSE New Directions programme, which focuses on giving people more choice, independence, and opportunities in their lives.
On this course, students will:
- Build confidence and social skills
- Explore career options and work environments
- Take part in hands-on vocational training
- Improve literacy and numeracy with one-to-one support
- Learn practical skills for independent living
We combine classroom learning with real experiences in the community, so learners can discover their strengths and plan for their future.
Certification: QQI Level 3 Employability Skills (3M0935)
JobStart Training in the Workplace, QQI Level 4
This course combines classroom learning with real work experience.
- 3 days per week: training in a local business or company
- 2 days per week: learning in the NLN Bray centre
Students gain:
- Practical, on-the-job experience
- Nationally recognised QQI qualifications
- Support from NLN instructors, who help match learners with a suitable work placement and provide ongoing guidance to both the student and the employer
This mix of work and study helps students build skills, confidence, and experience for future employment or further education.

Skills for Education and Employment, QQI Level 4
This course is for people who want to move into further education or start work, while learning in a supportive environment.
On this programme, you will:
- Work towards a QQI Level 4 major award
- Build the skills needed to get and keep a job
- Learn in a positive environment that promotes confidence and wellbeing
- Take part in a mix of centre-based, community, and work-based learning
- Get support through a person-centred approach focused on your goals
Schedule:
4 days per week in the NLN Bray centre (training in QQI modules). The other day is spent completing assignments, community activities, or work placements
This can lead to QQI Level 5 courses or direct entry into work in many different areas.

Information Technology and Business Administration, QQI Level 5
This course is for people who want to build strong IT and business administration skills to move into work or further education.
On this course you will get:
- Personalised support in small classes with experienced instructors
- Practical, real-world skills through hands-on projects
- Recognised qualifications
- A supportive learning environment to help you grow in confidence and reach your goals

Pathways, QQI Level 3
The Pathways course helps you get ready for your next step – whether that’s further education or employment.
On this course you will:
- Build your confidence and discover your strengths
- Set personal goals and work towards them
- Learn practical skills for work and daily life
- Make new friends in a supportive environment
- Gain work experience in the community
- Achieve a recognised QQI qualification
