Roslyn College is National Learning Network’s flagship college. We provide a range of free courses to people who have experienced a setback, have had an accident, a mental health issue, an illness, injury or have a disability and extra support needs.

Our courses are tailored to each student’s needs, to help them to build their confidence while getting practical job-seeking skills to help them get a job or go on to further training.

If you have artistic talent and want to develop your skills further and/or if you are considering going to Art College, Artlink could be the course for you. The course excels at portfolio preparation for college application and will aid you in development of a visual creative process unique to you.

Certification: QQI Level 5 Art, Craft & Design (5M1984).

Business Administration

This course offers a Business Administration Major Award and aims to develop the skills needed to gain employment in the administration function of any organisation. Students will learn a wide range of practical skills as well as learning to use industry leading software from Microsoft™ and Sage™ and apply them to a work situation. With this qualification, students can also progress onto 3rd level education through the CAO system.

Certification: QQI Level 5 Office Administration (5M1997) and QQI Level 4 Office Skills (4M2070).

Catering Support

The aim of the course is to provide students with the knowledge, skill and competence to work under supervision providing assistance and support within a catering setting at the college’s state-of-the-art Production Kitchen facility, or alternatively, to progress to further training or education. The programme also aims to support students in achieving QQI Level 4 certification in Catering Support and in Retail Sales.

Certification: QQI Level 4 Catering Support (4M2805).

Computer Aided Design and 3D Printing

Do you enjoy looking at buildings or watching house renovation programmes on TV? Ever thought of building your own home? Even if you have never done anything like this before but you like attention to details, or perhaps you already have some experience but need to update your skills, this course could be for you.

Using the the latest software the course covers key areas such as the preparation of drawings and plans in 2D and 3D, module making and design, surveying, BIM and 3D printing. The course will also help you to prepare a portfolio for further education.

Certification: QQI Level 5 Computer Aided Design (5M1940).

Graphic Design for Print

Provides students with a comprehensive range of graphic design and pre-press skills needed to work in the print and graphic design sectors, or to progress to further education and training. Assessment is mainly through continuous assignments and projects.

Certification: QQI Level 5 Graphic Design (5M1995).

Performing Arts

The course explores the many & varied aspects of arts and media. It combines practical and theoretical approaches to theatre & video. Students work on a project-to-project basis – theatre shows and video shoots – interspersed with workshops & classes. The course can be used as a stepping-stone to third level education or to work in the communications industry.

Computer Programming and Game Design

Computer programming meets game design in this exciting course that offers you a route into one of the fastest-growing industries in the world. You can tailor the course to suit your programming and your other IT interests, this is an excellent course for beginners who want to move into the digital entertainment industry or develop computer applications.

Wellness Foundation

Exploring wellness and recovery through open dialogue, Self-Advocacy and Citizenship, learning styles, team working, computer classes and career exploration.

Creative Media and Game Design

This exciting new programme focuses on creative design encompassing Graphics, Web and game design. It is suited to enthusiasts who would like to pursue a career in the design industry. The course focuses on all the aspects of design and idea development for the production of graphics for print, web and games.

Sports and Recreation

Sport and Recreation Roslyn is a training programme designed to enable people with disabilities or those out of work due to illness, injury or learning difficulty to build careers as future coaches, leaders and administrators in the sports and leisure industry. The programme provides individualised training focusing on the specific career and educational goals of each learner. The course has been specifically developed to assist participants in gaining employment in the sports and leisure industry, or progressing onto further training and education in this field.

Certification: QQI Level 5 Sports Recreation and Exercise (5M5146), QQI Level 4 Sports and Recreation (4M4966).

College Foundation

An introductory skills course that gives time for students to settle into the College, work on personal development and career options. It also gives students the opportunity to work on English, Maths and basic computer skills. The course is delivered through small classes, some individual tuition and a wide range of creative activities and discussion groups. Students are facilitated in sampling the vocational courses in the College, in applying for courses elsewhere or for jobs in open employment as appropriate.

Certification: QQI Level 4 General Learning (4M2010).

College Start

The benefit of this training programme is that it is designed for students who would like the opportunity to make a new beginning, build their confidence and explore career opportunities. It provides students with an environment to achieve greater levels of personal development, to develop IT and business skills and to explore employment or further education opportunities. Students will be supported in progressing to Level 4 and 5 QQI courses locally or to further education or training of choice.

Certification: QQI Level 3 Employability Skills (3M0935), QQI Level 4 Employment Skills (4M0857).

Retail Skills

A flexible course that is designed to enable students to develop the knowledge and skills required to get and keep a job in the retail sector e.g. Sales Assistants. The course is a mix of on-the-job and in-centre training. The course co-ordinator will support both the student and employer. Skills in the workplace are gained through a combination of practical demonstration, instruction, supervised practice, etc. Students progress through the programme at a pace which is suited to their individual needs and abilities.

Certification: QQI Level 4 Retail Skills (4M1998).


This course combines practical and theoretical learning to provide students with a comprehensive set of horticultural skills to get a job in plant nurseries, garden centres, landscape companies, golf clubs, parks and a range of related areas.

These skills are complemented by general skills such as IT and targeted work experience in a horticultural environment, to give participants an opportunity to apply learning in a real work setting.

Students, working at their own pace and using their own learning style, choose eight QQI modules leading to a QQI Level 4 certificate in Horticulture. This Major Award is recognised both nationally and internationally and helps students progress to employment or further training. Certification is achieved by continuous assessment through practical assignments and projects. Students learn through the medium of group classes, practical demonstrations, individual practice and assignments. Each student can avail of a wide range of supports throughout the course.

Certification: QQI Level 4 Horticulture (4M1994).

Computer Systems and Networks

Duration: Two years. This is a practical based IT course. It is designed to give participants a working knowledge of computer systems and a proficiency in office productivity tools. In addition, participants will acquire the skills necessary to implement and support PC systems and networks. From building networks and PCs to spreadsheets and databases, front and back office skills are developed to give participants a broad platform to progress their career. Graduates can use the knowledge and skills learned to assist a business run efficiently as this is an essential element in every organisation. They can also work in technical support, responding to customer technical support queries, financial institutions, call centres, and government departments.

QQI graduates are eligible to apply to institutes of technology and universities for follow-on courses in their preferred field of study. Core Modules include: Computer Systems Hardware, Network Essentials, Maths for Information Technology, Virtualisation Support, Operating Systems, Programming & Design Principles, Communications and work experience.

Pathways to Apprenticeship (4M2010)

This course has been designed to enable students to develop knowledge and practical skills in building construction and technology. The course helps students gain qualifications to begin an apprenticeship in construction or related trades for progression to employment or further education.
