At NLN in Limerick we provide a range of free courses to people who have had an accident, illness, injury or have a disability and extra support needs.
Our courses are tailored to each student’s needs, to help them to build their confidence while getting practical job-seeking skills to help them get a job or go on to further training.

This programme provides students with personal, social and work related skills that will enable them to progress to greater levels of employment readiness. Students will be trained to identify their strengths and goals for the future as well as exploring employment or further training opportunities through regular sampling of workplace settings.
Practical skills training will be delivered using a mix of structured directed training, self-direction and one to one coaching. Training will be tailored to meet individualised training and development needs through individual action planning. Certification at QQI level 3 is available for all students. Maximum duration of the programme is 18 months.
Certification: QQI Level 3 Employability Skills (3M0935).
PC Maintenance & IT Systems
Provides students with the knowledge, skills & attitudes required to gain employment in the computer industry or to progress to further training/education. Modules that students will become proficient in include: Introduction to Computers, Building your own Personal Computer, Overview of Computer Networking, Preventative Maintenance etc.
Certification: CompTIA IT Fundamentals+FC0-U61, EBCI European Certificate in PC Maintenance and Networking, EBCI IT-Diploma, CISCO IT Essentials v7, CompTIA A+Core, New ECDL.
This is a competency based catering course certified by QQI. Work experience is a significant element of the course. The course is designed to give students the skills needed to get and keep a job in the hotel, catering and tourism sector.
Certification: QQI Level 4 Catering Support (4M2805).
Information Technology and Office Skills
The IT and Office Skills course has been designed to give participants an opportunity to gain skills that will enable them to secure an admin job or to move on to third level education. Participants will work towards achieving a QQI Level 5 Major Award in Business. This may include the completion of the ECDL for those participants who do not already have one.
Students progress through the programme at a pace which is suited to their individual needs and abilities. Students’ progression will be planned with each individual through the Individual Action Planning (IAP) and monthly review processes. Skills needed in the workplace are acquired through a combination of practical demonstration, instruction, supervised practice, etc.
Certification: N/A Microsoft Office Expert (N/A), QQI Level 4 ECDL (N/A), QQI Level 5 eBusiness (5M0828).
Employer Based Training
Employer Based Training supports students to acquire practical skills with a company in an area of their choice.
The course is a combination of on-the-job and in-centre training 60% on-the-job and 40% in-centre. The Employer Based Training instructor supports both the student and the employer. Students choose a training area that interests and suits them and the Employer Based Training instructor finds a suitable company to accommodate them in their locality.
