RehabCare’s Respite Services

RehabCare’s centre-based respite care services provide adults and children with disabilities with the opportunity to take a holiday while at the same time providing the families/carers with a break from full-time caring. Respite services offer the opportunity to identify needs early and to build planned and well-informed longer-term services and support around a person.

Our mission is to enable those who use our service to achieve maximum independence, choice and inclusion in their communities. We will do this by offering a range of services and support of the highest quality, in line with the needs and wishes of the service users and in active partnership with them.

What is a respite service?
A respite service is critical in helping individuals remain in their family home for as long as possible. The philosophy of our centre-based services is to provide a home-from-home setting, making it an enjoyable and relaxed time for the individual in an environment where the family can be confident that their family member’s needs are being met.

Aim of the respite service

  • To provide a break for families from providing continual care and assistance to Children and Adults with Disabilities.
  • To contribute to the personal and social development of individuals through the provision of positive and constructive support.
  • To promote and facilitate inclusion and participation in mainstream community based activities, clubs, and social and recreational projects.

How do I access RehabCare’s Respite services?

In order to receive support from RehabCare, we require a referral from the HSE. Please contact your local HSE Health centre or Public Health Nurse to arrange an assessment.
