National Learning Network – Tallaght

At NLN in Tallaght we provide a range of free courses to people who have had an accident, illness, injury or have a disability and extra support needs.

Our courses are tailored to each student’s needs, to help them to build their confidence while getting practical job-seeking skills to help them get a job or go on to further training.

Access

The aim of the programme is to equip students with basic level personal, social and work-related skills. Students will progress to greater levels of independence, learn to manage their health and well-being, and be supported and encouraged to participate in their own communities, workplaces and society.

Certification: QQI Level 3 Employability Skills (3M0935).

IT Fresh Start

This IT based programme is designed for people who would like an opportunity to make a new beginning and start a new career after a period out of the workforce. It provides students with an opportunity to explore employment and education opportunities. Students progress through the programme at a pace which is suited to their individual abilities. Skills are acquired using a variety of teaching and learning methods and students are encouraged to work towards achieving a range of QQI modules.

Certification: QQI Level 3 Employability Skills (3M0935).

The Hub

The community HUB service at NLN Tallaght provides high-quality specialist supports for those with mild learning difficulties. The team work in partnership with parents, families and other professionals in meeting the needs of the individuals. Person-centred planning allows individuals to engage in a range of broad and balanced experiences. Our service allows individuals to have a voice in choosing how they wish to live their lives and allows them the opportunity to integrate into their community and play a valuable role in their local communities. Where appropriate, individuals will also have the opportunity to progress to nationally accredited training courses.

Catering

The aim of the programme is to provide students with the knowledge, skill and competence to work under supervision providing assistance and support within a catering setting, or alternatively, to progress to further training or education. The course is designed to give students the skills and work behaviours needed to obtain and retain employment in the hotel, catering and tourism sector.

Certification: QQI Level 4 Catering Support (4M2805).

Fast Track to Employment

This programme is designed to provide training in a company based setting, for students with disabilities and/or extra support needs. The programme aims to support students in identifying a specific skills area and in achieving employment in their chosen skills area or in progressing to further education or training.

Certification: QQI Level 4 Employment Skills (4M0857).

Vocational Skills

This an introductory skills programme focusing on literacy/ numeracy supports, skills sampling, art/drama, communications and outdoor pursuits. The programme provides students with the basic tools for further study and supports students to further education.

Certification: QQI Level 3 Employability Skills (3M0935).

Vocational Multi Skills

The aim of this programme is to provide students with disabilities and/or who have extra support needs, with the opportunity to develop the practical and personal skills necessary to obtain and retain employment in manufacturing, retail or service industries as general operatives/assistants.

Certification: QQI Level 4 General Learning (4M20120), QQI Level 4 Sports and Recreation (4M4966).

IT with Office Skills

This programme provides students with the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to obtain and retain employment in IT, Administrative or Receptionist/telephonist positions. Alternatively students will be supported in progressing to QQI Level 5 courses locally or to further education or training of choice. The programme also provides students with the opportunity to work on personal effectiveness and social skills.
