The National Learning Network training centre in Tullamore is inviting members of the public to join its forthcoming 5K fundraising walk taking place on Wednesday March 24th at 2pm.
Funds raised will go towards the development of a new sensory garden in the Tanyard in the town. The walk will commence at Tullamore Rugby Club and includes a delightfully scenic route around Charleville estate. It promises to be an enjoyable event with refreshments provided for all participants and prizes for the best fundraisers.
Lexi Kennedy, manager of the National Learning Network centre in Tullamore, comments:
“By developing this sensory garden, the aim is to develop a special space which is accessible to all. We hope to create a wonderful variety of sensory opportunities for learners and visitors that they would not normally experience in a garden. Amongst the features we are planning are a range of sensory plants, herbs and grasses, a waterfall and rockery, and outdoor seating for people to relax and take in the view. Learners are also creating a colourful mural which will be a fantastic learning experience for them and which will also leave a lasting art legacy in the garden for people to enjoy.
“I hope that as many people as possible will get behind this fundraising walk and support our efforts – not only will they return from the walk feeling fit and healthy, but they will also have raised money for a very worthy cause.”
