Rehab Great Investment Race

Merrion Investment Managers were declared winners of the sixth Rehab Great Investment Race in December 2011 following one of the most challenging and nail-biting races since the exciting fundraiser was originally established in 2001. This is the third time for the team from Merrion Investment Managers to secure the coveted title, making it an impressive hat-trick for the company.

Almost €40,000 in much-needed funds was raised in the Race which will go towards the development of Rehab's services for children and adults with autism, enabling it to continue to stay at the forefront of service innovation in the area. Approximately 250 people access Rehab's autism-specific services which include resource centre day services, and residential, respite and outreach services in locations across the country. Through the current and previous five races, a grand total of €908,000 has been raised – an outstanding achievement.

The Race sees teams of highly-experienced investment fund managers use their skill and knowledge to invest in funds on behalf of Rehab. The initial capital investment was provided to Rehab by Atlantic Philanthropies, with each fund manager receiving a starting fund of €100,000 to invest for a year. The sixth Race ran from November 2010 to October 2011, with Irish Life Investment Managers coming second and Kleinwort Benson Investors coming third. Other Race participants were AIB Investment Managers and Rehab's own investment team.
